Do You Trust God? (Part 2)

Farther along we’ll know all about it,

Farther along we’ll understand why;

Cheer up my brother, live in the sunshine,

We’ll understand it all by and by.

In life we run into situations that just don’t seem to make any sense.  We try to look at the situation from multiple angles or we attempt to dissect it from various aspects, but at the end of the day we look up to God, unsure of what else to do because the situation still baffles us.  Anybody else ever experience this?

When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was. Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him. Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died- John 11: 6, 13-15, 21

We always have to remember that there are two sides to every story, or there are often two parallel conversations occurring.  There is our natural conversation, but as Christians we always have to remember that there is usually a spiritual conversation occurring as well.  Jesus had one conversation with His disciples, that Martha and the others knew nothing about.  However, after some time passed everybody eventually understood why he allowed Lazarus to die.

We cannot judge our situation based on what we see. We cannot even question God on why He allowed or did not allow something to happen.  We always have to remember that God’s plan is bigger than us and He has the ability to see farther down the road than we can.  Do you trust that God knows best, even if your situation is not going the way you want it to go?

Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD. And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life- Job 2:1-6

Here again God knows something that Job does not know.  But Job has to trust God.  Job had to believe that even though I am going through these things, that God knows best and no matter what I do, I better not do anything to dishonor the Lord.

In all this did not Job sin with his lips.- Job 2:10

And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly- Job 1:21-22

Job knew he had to just trust God.  Because if anything was going to change it would be because God changed it.

So, Instead of getting mad and upset at your current situation; trust God. You may not be able to see exactly how everything is going to work out, but if you are patient you will see that God had everything under control.

Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him- John 11:41-45

You never know how trusting God in your situation might help to draw somebody else to Christ.  Trust God it is worth it!

So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses. He had also seven sons and three daughters. And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren. After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons’ sons, even four generations. So Job died, being old and full of days- Job 42:12-13, 15-17

For His Maximum Glory!
